Remember a railway king, sir Edward watkin, at the national railway museum
The Issue
Help me to get an exhibition put into the National railway museum in York remembering the life and achievements of sir Edward watkin. He was chairman and director of more railway companies during the 1840s-1880s than anyone else. He set up the underground railway, planned a Wembley park tower to rival the French Eiffel tower and started construction on an original channel tunnel. He was a revaluationry man that donated to charity many times and helped the people of Manchester greatly. He also was very influential in railways across Canada and India. He set up the UK's first public footpath. This was the Watkin path named after him that went up Snowdon the largest mountain in Wales. Edward is rarely remembered and there is no memorial to him other than a small plaque in Marylebone station. I am a descendant of Edward watkin and I am very proud of him, now it is time for him to be know throughout the country he devoted his efforts to. Please sign this petition for me to be able to set up an exhibition about Edward, thank you all so much.
More information on Edward watkin can be found on his Wikipedia page though that only slightly brushes up on his lifetime.
