Release my granddaughter from CPS custody

Release my granddaughter from CPS custody
The Issue
I am writing this petition with a broken heart and an urgent plea for help. My 4-year-old granddaughter was taken from us five and a half months ago by Child Protective Services (CPS) while she was innocently playing in our yard in the rain. It was an ordinary day, and like many children, she enjoys the playfulness of rain. But instead of a friendly reminder to ensure she was dressed appropriately, CPS made the shocking decision to place her in a foster home on that very day—without the judge's signature until the following day.
Our family has been shattered by this sudden and unjust decision. I have been by my granddaughter's side every single day since she was born. To imagine her being taken away from her family, and thrown into the care of strangers, is heartbreaking. She must have been terrified and confused, wondering why her loving family was no longer there to comfort her when she needed us most.
The public defender assigned to our case did not provide the support or guidance we desperately needed. Instead, we were told to just "go with the flow," dismissing the traumatic and emotional impact this has had on our granddaughter and us.
We believe in the welfare and protection of children, but this is not how it should be executed. Removing a child from a loving and caring home without due process, merely because she was playing in the rain, is an overreach of power. We understand the necessity of child protective services in genuine cases of abuse or neglect, but in this instance, CPS acted without proper justification and caused unnecessary suffering.
We call upon CPS and the legal system to reevaluate this decision as a matter of urgency. Return our beloved granddaughter to her rightful home where she is cherished, loved, and safe. We urge them to consider the emotional distress and the unnecessary trauma that has been inflicted on an innocent child and a caring family.
Please sign this petition to bring our granddaughter back home, where she belongs, before any more irreparable damage is done to her wellbeing and our family unity. Together, we can stand for justice and the proper application of child protection procedures.
