Rejection of planned 20 metre Communications Tower in King George's Field

Rejection of planned 20 metre Communications Tower in King George's Field
Why this petition matters

Planning permission is being sought for the proposed installation of a 65 foot (20 metres) high telecommunications tower and base units in King George's playing field. We are objecting to the proposal on the basis of siting and appearance. The tower would be based where a local wildflower conservation area has been established and on a site which is protected in perpetuity by Fields in Trust as a green space for local residents to enjoy.
The mast would both tower above the existing treeline and local properties, creating a visually intrusive industrial look to the surrounding landscape. If permitted to go ahead, it likely opens the option for other building permissions to be granted.
King George's Field is heavily used by a large number of children, with the local Primary School located just down the road, and the area is used by children on their walks to school, for Scouts/Guides clubs and football. It also hosts regular functions, such as the local fireworks display, which would potentially prevent such events taking place within such close proximity to the mast.
King George’s field is used for recreation, for pleasure, and with so few green spaces left to us in the area, it is key that we’re able to maintain such places for the use they were originally intended for - and not as a convenient industrial site.
