Aug 21st 7pm City Council votes. Need your help to stop rezoning and saving Mary's Creek

Thank you again for signing the petition to reject rezoning of 4501 W Loop 820 S. As of to date we have over 2300+ signers!
Now we are at the most important stage yet—the City Council public hearing.

📍 Where: Benbrook City Hall - 911 Winscott Rd., Benbrook
Why This Hearing Is Critical
This project pushes for development in the floodplain and floodway—one of the riskiest, least responsible forms of development. Floodplains are meant to protect our homes, our families, and our community from harm. Paving and building in them increases flood risk, shifts water downstream, and creates permanent liabilities for Benbrook taxpayers. The developer is planning to widen Mary’s Creek by 60ft and reshape it.
If this rezoning passes, once the floodplain is rezoned, it will stay zoned that way—even if this developer fails financially. Another developer could walk in with the same dangerous plan. That’s why your presence is so important right now.
What You Can Do:
- We need a massive turnout—our goal is 500 people—to send a clear message. Please:
- Wear green to show unity in opposition.
- Stand up and speak—even briefly. If you do not, there is no record you were there. Simply stating your name, address, and that you oppose the rezoning makes your voice official.

Why It Matters
The Planning & Zoning Commission already recommended approval. The only way to stop this is by showing the Council overwhelming community opposition. This is the most important meeting to date. If we fail to show up in numbers, the decision could be made without the full weight of citizen input.
