Zoning comission voted down the rezoning and rejected plot plan. Now onto City Council

Just wanting to send a thank you for all who showed up, spoke and stayed till the end of the Public Hearing. Very proud of my friends and neighbors for getting the word out and being heard. Also want to thank the Zoning Comission who listened, challenged, showed concern and voted against it. While this is a long road and won't be the last time we need to take action. It was a big deal that the zoning comission went against what was recommended by the staff. And will force super majority vote at the City Council meeting in order to override the zoning recommendations!
What does this mean? Well Mr. Waldrop (the developer) can seek to get the City Council to overrule the zoning comissions vote at an upcoming hearing (Stay tuned for that hearing date. we get to do it all again :) ). He also can build or start preparing a new plot plan based on the current zoning. Which would go before this zoning comission in a future date. Especially if he wants to manipulate the FloodPlain. I will post an update once I know more informaion. I also talked to Mr. Waldrop last night afterwards. And I agreed to meet with him and the engineer to discuss what they know and more of his' plans. He reiterated again he was open to dialog and he also wanted to learn more of our concerns. And admitted he does know about the lack of FloodPlain data. I don't know where this will go but will keep you updated. Thanks again everyone! Please don't hesitate to reachout.
