A federal judge has ruled that more than 1,000 Voice of America employees must be reinstated after being placed on leave under actions that violated federal law.

The court found serious legal issues with both the mass cuts and the leadership decisions behind them. As a result, a vital global news service that once reached millions has been drastically reduced.

Voice of America has long served as a trusted source of information around the world, promoting transparency, press freedom, and access to facts. Weakening it risks limiting the flow of reliable information at a time when it is more important than ever.

Now that the court has spoken, action must follow.

We call on the U.S. Agency for Global Media, the Trump administration, and relevant federal officials to fully comply with the ruling, reinstate Voice of America staff, and restore its operations without delay.
