Reinstate the Direct ICE Train Link from Amsterdam to Basel

Reinstate the Direct ICE Train Link from Amsterdam to Basel

The Issue

Living with MS, travelling across Europe can be daunting, especially when I have to change trains. For anykne like me, who lives with physical or neurological differences, negotiating crowded, noisy stations can be disorienting and highly stressful. Even for the able-bodied, changing trains can lead to additional anxiety, especially when a connection is missed to unforeseen delays. (Therefore, booked seats are lost and passengers may have to stand.) The previously timetabled ICE train link from Amsterdam to Basel was an easy, fast way for anyone to travel through Europe. I listened to Kraftwerk's 'Trans Euro Express' en route! Many disabled passengers, and parents with children, need seamless and stress-free travel, particularly when carrying heavy luggage. The  route was also great for people travelling to intermediate locations such as Mannheim and it was an environmentally sound way to cross Northern Europe.

The direct link from The Netherlands  to Switzerland was ideal for passengers wanting to avoid flying. Having to change platforms and risk lifts being out of order means many people like me might stop from travelling by train, due to the stress and inconvenience involved. Therefore, this petition is not solely a personal plea but an appeal on behalf of all passengers who value the importance of uninterrupted journeys. We need to urge the DB and the Swiss railway bosses to reinstate the direct ICE train link from Amsterdam to Basel. The difference this will make to passengers is invaluable. Please sign this petition and take a step towards fast, inclusive, Europe-wide accessible travel for everyone.
