The Issue

We need your support:

Our ‘community hub’, a well loved local swap shop Free Unit, on Chandos Open Space, E15 1TT, Newham has been removed.

It is always disappointing when  a place  for families suffering from hidden poverty, where people could drop unwanted items  rather them see them going to waste is removed from a neighbourhood park, especially in a close-knit like Newham. A place where parents and volunteers were connecting and chats.

Maintained and monitored by local volunteers this local swap stop served as a vital community hub for recycling books, toys, clothes, shoes, food and it is removal has deprived our residents of a valued resource that promoted sustainability and community spirit.

With the unexpected removal of the swap shop also our long gardening tool box has been taken away. These instruments are been regularly used by the Lithuanian nursery that  has adopted a planter and the SEN kids from Education Links that are participating to gardening classes.

As organizer and volunteer of the community exchange unit I am asking you please  with you signature to help us to reinstate the freetail unit and to have back all our tools because we run regular litter pick, anti pooch poo campaign, community gardening session and these tools are essential for the success of our green projects.
