Regulate the Frequency and Volume of Train Horns in Fraser Heights, Surrey During Nighttime

Regulate the Frequency and Volume of Train Horns in Fraser Heights, Surrey During Nighttime
The Issue
My home, like many others in the Fraser Heights 104 Ave & Golden Ears Connector area in Surrey, BC, Canada, has become a place of stress and sleep deprivation due to excessive train noise during the night. The loud and frequent sounding of train horns from 10 PM to 5 AM has resulted in severe disturbances, affecting the sleep patterns and overall health of many residents including myself. Despite resorting to sleep aids, these persistent noises continue to disrupt our sleep and peace. As a consequence, I have started suffering memory loss, anxiety, and distress, a sentiment shared with my fellow residents under similar circumstances.
Noise pollution is considerably more than just an annoyance, it has significant impacts on the human psyche and health. According to the World Health Organization, exposure to excessive noise can lead to numerous health issues including stress-related illnesses, poor concentration, productivity loss, communication difficulties, fatigue from lack of sleep, and can cause more profound and lasting harms by triggering high blood pressure, cardiovascular diseases, and mental health problems.
Train horns are undoubtedly essential for ensuring safety, however the hours and the volume at which they are used should be subject to scrutiny, more so when they encroach residential zones and disrupt the lives of the citizens. We call upon the city board and relevant authorities to draft and implement noise control norms regarding the blaring of train horns during the night. We urge the introduction of regulations that can help strike a balance between essential train operations and the need for quiet, restful nights for the residents.
Your support in this initiative can help bring much-needed relief to our community. Reinstate peace in our homes and lives. Sign this petition, let your voice be heard for a horn-less night!
