Regulate the development of AI.
The Issue
Ai has become rapidly one of the largest controversies around the world over the years. This means as controversy was ranking up, so was It's development and usage. Ai is known to use extreme amounts of water in the data cooling process and it is said that we are at risk of scarcity. Many states have reported they have little to no water access due to Ai development and It's resource-sucking properties around the area, such as Utah, Nevada, and Arizona. (And even more.) There are also high concerns that Ai is going to be able to take over all jobs and resources if it gets too powerful. Ai is becoming more and more of a risk every day that we use it.
Over the past few days Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, and former employees of OpenAi, have taken the opportunity to speak out about this ongoing issue. Amodei claims "there is a high risk Ai will kill all humans by the end of the decade." and "development should be slowed down." This has sparked lots of attention and controversy as many former employees and current managers of other Ai companies have came out to agree with Amodei's claims.
While Ai has been found to indeed be helpful for specific things like modern medicine, and scientific research. It is developing at a dangerously fast pace, and is beginning to become super intelligence, and gaining the ability to program without the help of humans. Safety and real intelligence is not able to catch up with the speed of Ai and it's important that we as people have a say in what happens with us and our environment. Ai also takes away art forms such as music, drawing, sports, etc. and this takes away humans creativity and the impact that art has on the world. If we found a way to regulate it and develop it at a normal pace, we may be able to keep Ai for what it is good for. However,
There are only 3 more years in the decade. If we have the ones creating Ai coming at us to tell us that it is becoming dangerous, we should listen to those warnings. If we don't, there are risks that humans, animals, and all life form will be dead sooner than we think. To keep our resources, like our water and food. To keep us alive and not at risk, and to especially save our planet. We need to do something, Signing this will help me get one step closer to bringing this huge issue to light and allowing there to be some type of change.
