Refund Council Tax to Birmingham Residents for Unreceived Services

Refund Council Tax to Birmingham Residents for Unreceived Services
The Issue
As a hardworking resident and taxpayer of Birmingham, I am calling for an immediate refund of council taxes paid for services not received. Our council tax is vital in maintaining our community's basic services - services that we are currently missing out on. It covers necessities such as street cleaning, street lighting, repairs, social centres for children, bin collections, road repairs, and the upkeep of libraries. However, many of these services have either ceased operations or are massively underperforming.
Street cleaning is almost nonexistent, causing a rise in litter and making our neighbourhoods less safe and pleasant to live in. Street lighting and road repairs too are suffering noticeable neglect, with inconspicuous locations remaining unpaved and poorly lit for extended periods of time.
Communal spaces like social centres for children and libraries have been closed down, reducing opportunities for social interaction and learning, particularly among our children. Bin collections have faltered, allegedly due to strikes. However, even before these strikes, we had been hearing of plans to limit this service.
Our roads are riddled with potholes causing significant damage to our vehicles and further exacerbating an already growing cost of living crisis many of us find ourselves in. The services we are paying for with our council tax are continually degrading, leaving us to wonder where our hard-earned money is going.
This is not just a personal experience but a shared hardship among all Birmingham residents. It is an outrage to be paying council taxes for services that we are clearly not receiving.
Prompt actions must be taken to refund the council taxes paid or to rectify the underperformance of these services. As the residents of Birmingham, we demand transparency and accountability. Please sign this petition to show that our voices deserve to be heard and our concerns addressed.
