For years, we, the residents of Hilltop, have been longing for a local recreation center for our children - a place within walking distance where they can simply be kids and explore the joy of outdoor play. At the heart of our community, Hilltop area used to provide such a place, but it has been years since we lost our cherished park. Every time our children wish to play, we need to travel miles to reach the closest children's park. As a local parent, it pains me to see my child deprived of everyday fun and interaction that a nearby park can provide. It's crucial to understand that parks are not just places for children to play, but vessels of community interactions, fostering friendships, and building healthier, happier, and smarter children. According to the National Recreation and Park Association, proximity to parks encourages physical activity and helps children maintain healthy weights. We must give our children the outdoor space they deserve. We request the local authorities of Ebbw Vale to reinstate a park in Hilltop area, contributing to the well-being of our children and our community.
