I live in Bromley and regularly use the park to walk, run, take my grandson to ride his bike or use the children play area. The park is well used by the local community young , old and disabled people. Having an open green space like Norman Park is not a luxury and is well used by everyone to walk their dogs exercise, or just to sit and watch the world go by which is good for people’s physical and mental wellbeing. Shame on this conservative borough, people pay council tax, so why should they pay again to use the park.
I park here every week to go to my physio office for post surgery recovery. Any attempt to charge me for parking there would be for no reason other than money. Our council tax is already ridiculous and I'll gladly vote out every member of Bromley council if they continue on this course.
Norman Park is for the health âne well-being of the general public being one of the measure activities provided by Bromley council. Our rates go up, our services go down particularly for those of us who shoulder the bulk of the rates bill. Charging for parking will effectively a leisure activity into a commercial activity - effectively a change of use. Lack of free parking facilities at the Hook Farm end of the park will particularly effect the activities of the Mencap beneficiaries and their carers.
The handing over of the car park management to a commercial provider and the consequent doubling of parking charges has already to a serious reduction of footfall in West Wickham high street. Many of the people who need to use a car do not necessarily have a mobile phone thus they would no longer be able to use the Hook Farm end of the park, depriving them of the use of one of the borough’s most popular leisure facilities. Parking in the surrounding areas is already difficult especially with residents permit only parking. This will cause upset by both drivers and residents.
I can't believe the one place in Bromley where you don't have to pay to park is now being targeted. Norman Park is a great outlet for people to EXERCISE. No toilet facilities but a great place to run, learn to ride a bike, go to the playground, play football. What knock on effect with this have to our local athletics group?
Been riding this track for about 10 years now. Really good community, especially with Libby getting new riders into the sport. Would be an absoloute shame to watch it fall because of money.
