The issue

  • Growing up in south West Sydney community, I've witnessed firsthand the increasing issue of young individuals riding dirt bikes illegally on public roads, parks, and other open spaces. This isn't just a rebellious phase; it's a reality brought about by the sheer lack of legal and accessible places for them to enjoy their passion for biking.

Many of these young riders aren't out to cause trouble or create disturbances. They're simply searching for a safe and legal environment to practice their skills and enjoy their sport. Regrettably, the absence of designated riding areas leads to dangerous incidents, community complaints, and hefty fines—none of which benefit our community's cohesion or safety.

The solution is clear: we need to create supervised, legal alternatives where these young riders can channel their energy in a positive manner. Establishing dedicated dirt bike parks or riding tracks within accessible locations in Western Sydney could lead to safer streets and more harmonious neighborhoods.

We could model such facilities after successful initiatives in other regions where supervised tracks have minimized illegal riding by offering riders a legitimate space. With proper management and community involvement, these parks could also provide educational programs about safe and responsible riding, possibly reducing fines and accidents significantly.

Moreover, by converting unused land or collaborating with sports organizations, we can create sustainable environments that not only cater to biking enthusiasts but can be used for other community activities as well. Let's invest in our youth's potential, turning otherwise negative situations into opportunities for growth and enjoyment.

I urge the local government, city planners, and community leaders to take these concerns seriously and work collaboratively with residents, bikers, and sporting entities to implement these changes. We must prioritize a safer, more vibrant Western Sydney that embraces the interests of all its members.

Please, stand with me in supporting legal riding alternatives. By signing this petition, you're advocating for youth-friendly solutions that bring long-term benefits to our community. Together, we can reduce illegal biking activities and foster a safer, more inclusive area for everyone.
