Petrol price was slashed by ₹8.69 a litre and that of diesel by ₹7.05 per litre

by the Central Government in May 2022 by cutting down excise duty on fuels. Following the same, various State Governments under BJP rule also had reduced prices of auto fuel.

Kerala Government, did not reduce the fuel prices in the State instead increased the prices in the recent 2023-24 budget by adding a new cess.This effectively increased the fuel price in Kerala by 2 Rupees.

These prices are significantly higher compared to other states in the country. Kerala people spend about 10 Rupees more than what people in Gujarat pays. The exorbitant fuel prices are causing tremendous hardships for the common people of Kerala. The cost of fuel has a direct impact on their livelihoods, and it is time for the government to take urgent measures to address this issue.

The Kerala BJP strongly demand the government of Kerala to take immediate action to reduce the taxes on petrol and diesel, thereby reducing the prices of auto fuel in the state.
