I am a student in Evesham and my family and I, along with many others, grapple with severe traffic congestion daily. Normal 10-minute journeys can take over an hour, making daily commutes for school and work stressful and inefficient. For years now, we've had to leave out excessively early just to arrive on time for our commitments.

It is evident that the road traffic management system now is not sufficient to serve Evesham's growing population. The current one-way system, instituted a decade ago, has proven inefficient with the increasing number of vehicles, resulting in exacerbating traffic jams during peak hours. Before the one-way system was implemented, the traffic was managed through a two-way system, which felt more balanced and beneficial for the community.

National statistics show the negative impact of traffic congestion on the environment, economy, and our health. According to the UK Department of Transport, road congestion accounted for an extra 1.35 billion hours of travel time in 2019 (source: Department for Transport), not to mention the elevated levels of air pollution that harm our health.

Let's come together as a community to call on the local authorities to re-evaluate and redesign the road traffic management system in Evesham. We demand that they take into consideration our daily struggles and reinstate the two-way system to reduce these everyday traffic congestions. This change will not only improve our daily commutes but also make the town a better place to live, work, and grow.
