The Issue
Coleshill Drive in Hartcliffe, Bristol has become increasingly challenging for its residents. During the winter months, our beloved community green transforms into a muddy quagmire. Paired with the insufficient number of parking bays, this makes everyday life a struggle. The parking crisis is further aggravated by the nearby school, forcing residents to park wherever they can find even a sliver of space. This creates hazardous conditions for both drivers and pedestrians.
The lack of adequate parking is not just an inconvenience but a safety issue. When cars are parked haphazardly, it obstructs views and pathways, increasing the risk of accidents. The poor lighting exacerbates these dangers; with the only lighting positioned by cars, the path leading to our homes is left pitch black. This lack of visibility means residents have to navigate using torches, compromising safety further.
We propose a practical solution: reallocate the green areas that are becoming unusable during adverse weather into driveways, and increase the number of parking bays to sufficiently accommodate the residents. Not only will this reduce the parking chaos, but it will also reclaim peaceful, functional spaces in our community.
Furthermore, improving lighting along the paths leading to the houses is essential. Ensuring safe, well-lit areas will instil a sense of security, especially during darker months.
By signing this petition, you are advocating for a safer, more accessible Coleshill Drive for all its residents. Let's work together to implement these necessary changes and enhance our community's environment and well-being. Please sign and help us bring about this transformation.
