Redefine access into medical park plazas in New Tampa

Redefine access into medical park plazas in New Tampa
The Issue
As a business owner located in University Lakes Professional Park (14507 Bruce B Downs Blvd, Tampa, FL 33613) and having colleagues in the Cove Bend Drive Medical Plazas in New Tampa, I am deeply concerned about the current access issues affecting these areas from the north and south directions. The restricted access is not just an inconvenience; it poses a significant threat to the businesses operating there, mine included.
The lack of a turn lane makes it challenging for clients, patients, and customers to reach us. This often leads to confusion, frustration, and ultimately, a decline in foot traffic. Businesses in these plazas are suffering financially, and if this issue isn't addressed promptly, it could lead to closures affecting the local economy. We understand that safety is a primary concern for the closure but believe the resolve should include some way to allow a more safe left turn into the property.
According to local traffic studies, these areas consistently rank higher in congestion and accessibility challenges. With two major hospitals nearby and numerous medical and retail offices within, it is imperative that we provide our community with adequate access. Easier access will not only support the businesses but will also ensure that emergency services can reach healthcare facilities swiftly.
We propose the following solutions: Installation of a left-only turning lane into the above properties access points. This installation would have specific features that would prevent automobiles from crossing the entire boulevard on departure from the property to ensure safety. Included would be clear directional signage, and collaborating with city planners to redesign current roadways for improved flow. Collaboration with local business owners, city officials, and traffic engineers will ensure that these changes meet the needs of all stakeholders.
I urge city planners and local authorities to prioritize this project and work towards a solution that benefits all. Let's make these vital changes to support our businesses and the Tampa community at large.
Please sign this petition to help us create a more accessible and thriving business environment in these highly regarded Professional Plazas.
