In Georgetown, Guyana,  Space Gym recently increased its monthly membership fee from $14,000 to $18,000. What makes this decision particularly galling is that there are no new services, equipment, or benefits accompany this steep price hike. It feels like an outright disrespect to loyal patrons, and as someone who already invests in the most expensive gym in town, it verges on highway robbery.

That $4,000 difference might not seem significant to some, but it adds up over time, making long-term memberships increasingly unaffordable. According to recent statistics, families in Georgetown are more budget-conscious than ever, having to prioritize essential expenses. We understand that business costs rise, but such an increase without clear justification or added value feels unfair and inconsiderate to the community that has supported Space Gym consistently. Many of us are students, working professionals, or parents managing tight budgets. A decision like this sends a message that loyalty is not being valued.

I'm calling on the management of Space Gym to reconsider this price adjustment, to engage with members and to provide transparent communication about why such a drastic increase is necessary without any visible benefits. It's imperative that businesses maintain trust and loyalty by ensuring their pricing strategies reflect true value. This recent increase seems arbitrary and unwarranted.
