As dedicated fans of the San Jose Sharks, we are deeply disappointed in both the selection process and the current options presented for the team’s new goal song.

While we appreciate the effort to create an original track, the proposed selections fail to capture the energy, personality, and passion of our fanbase. As many have already pointed out on X and Reddit, these songs sound generic and lack the unique identity that Sharks fans deserve.

The Sharks have a proud tradition of showcasing local artistry—whether through custom jersey designs at themed games like Los Tiburones or the murals that decorate our community. Choosing to outsource the goal song to outside producers, rather than engaging Bay Area artists or tapping into fan creativity, misses a huge opportunity to strengthen the connection between the team and its supporters. Imagine how much more powerful it would have been to host a contest where local musicians and fans could submit original compositions, with the entire community helping to choose the winner.

We also recognize the organization’s desire to give Sharks365 members a voice. However, excluding the larger fanbase from such an important decision is discouraging and alienating. Many thousands of loyal fans may not hold season tickets, but they still fill the Tank with their families, friends, and coworkers throughout the year. They deserve a say in the soundtrack of our celebrations.

As an alternative, we propose the following:

1. After the Sharks365 vote, compile a new ballot with the top two tracks from the current round plus three additional songs by Bay Area recording artists.
   
   
2. Open this second vote to the entire fanbase, allowing all Sharks fans—not just season ticket holders—to determine the new goal song.
   By broadening the process, the organization would not only choose a more fitting anthem but also reaffirm its commitment to the creativity and passion that define Sharks Territory.
