Reconsider Federal Age Requirements for Public Office

Reconsider Federal Age Requirements for Public Office
The Issue
We, the undersigned, believe that the current age requirements for federal office in the United States should be reexamined.
At present, the U.S. Constitution sets minimum ages for positions such as President and members of Congress. While these rules were created with historical context, many young Americans today are educated, informed, and actively engaged in civic life.
We believe it is worth discussing whether these age requirements still reflect the abilities and readiness of today’s younger generation. Reexamining them could allow for broader representation and ensure that all generations have a voice in shaping the future of our country.
We respectfully encourage our elected leaders to consider supporting open discussion, research, and potential proposals related to updating these requirements through the constitutional amendment process.
