Recognize King Reza Pahlavi as the Legitimate Democratic Voice of the Iranian People

The Issue

In the face of escalating authoritarianism, systemic human rights violations, and regional destabilization by the Islamic Republic of Iran, the international community must clearly recognize and support a credible democratic alternative.

King Reza Pahlavi has emerged as a leading voice for a secular, democratic, and non-violent transition in Iran. For years, he has consistently advocated for human rights, the separation of religion and state, free elections, and a peaceful path toward national sovereignty and dignity. His message resonates with millions of Iranians inside the country and across the diaspora who seek a future free from repression.

It is equally important to clarify that the so-called opposition group People's Mojahedin Organization of Iran (MEK) does not represent the Iranian people. The MEK’s history of militancy, cult-like internal structure, and Marxist-Islamist ideological roots have alienated it from the vast majority of Iranians. Substituting one authoritarian structure for another is not democracy. The Iranian people deserve a genuinely pluralistic and accountable future.

Amid ongoing regional conflict, weakening of repressive institutions such as the IRGC, and growing internal dissent, there is a historic window of opportunity. As the regime’s coercive apparatus faces unprecedented pressure, hope for meaningful change is stronger than it has been in decades. This moment requires moral clarity from the international community.

We call upon leaders of the free world, major news networks, and global media platforms to:

  • Publicly recognize King Reza Pahlavi as a principal democratic voice of the Iranian opposition
  • Provide fair and consistent media coverage of his platform and proposals
  • Reject extremist or unrepresentative groups that do not reflect the will of the Iranian people
  • Stand firmly with the Iranian people in their pursuit of secular democracy, human rights, and national sovereignty

Iran’s future must be decided by its people, free from dictatorship, free from ideological extremism, and free from violence.

Sign this petition to support a democratic transition in Iran and to amplify the legitimate voice of those fighting for freedom.
