PETITION TO RE OPEN OUR MOSQUE – ICCI

To Whom It May Concern,

We, the undersigned members of the Muslim community in Ireland, submit this petition to express our profound concern regarding the continued closure of the Islamic Cultural Centre of Ireland (ICCI). For decades, the ICCI has stood as the largest and most significant centre of worship, education, and community life for Muslims across the country.

We are now approaching the eighth consecutive month of closure, with no clear resolution in sight. This prolonged shutdown has deprived thousands of individuals and families of essential religious services, educational programmes, and social support activities. The absence of the ICCI has caused severe hardship and distress within our community, which has long depended on this centre as a spiritual home and a hub for cultural and educational enrichment.

For over thirty years, the continued operation of the ICCI has been possible due to the unwavering generosity and dedication of the Al Maktoum Charity Foundation. The Muslim community in Ireland remains deeply grateful for this longstanding support, which has positively impacted generations of Muslims and contributed to the flourishing of Islamic life in Ireland.

While we understand that the closure stems from internal administrative challenges, we firmly emphasize that the community had no involvement in these issues and bears no responsibility for them. It is therefore difficult and disheartening to comprehend why the wider community is being denied access to a centre that has been integral to its spiritual and social wellbeing for decades.

Through this petition, we make a respectful and heartfelt appeal to the Al Maktoum Charity Foundation to continue its valued support and to urgently intervene in facilitating a solution that will allow the ICCI to reopen. This centre is far more than a building—it is a sanctuary of faith, a space for learning, and a cornerstone for building strong families and a united community. Its prolonged closure has left a significant void that cannot be filled elsewhere.

We, as a peaceful and united community, stand ready to assist in any constructive efforts that lead to a fair, transparent, and lasting resolution.

In the meantime, we hope that all parties involved will prioritize the collective interest of the community above any personal or institutional disputes.
