This petition has been initiated by Chris Austen, to the Sunshine Coast Council and their inequity of management towards verge or nature strip maintenance, as they consider other structures or solid material may present a "potential risk".

You cannot negate potential risk.

Ratepayers would be unaware of discrepancies in  Councils website in relation to  Fact Sheets for  "Planting a garden on a road verge"(nature strip), inclusive of planting and landscaping.

Many homes have installed differing verges, contemporary  with todays low maintenance, water usage and time needed to manage.

Within the fact sheet there is no reference to SCC Local laws and subordinate laws and risk having a compliance notice served if there is a complaint made against that particular household, with the compliance  notice having the ability to escalate to a $6673.00 fine.

However if  you have used materials( pebbles, rocks, etc) not supported with the fact sheet and no complaint has been lodged against you, you are able to maintain your verge landscaping. Those of us unlucky to have been  served a notice, must remove same.

This process is bullying and inequitable and appears that council  can place gravel, pebbles and rocks on  verges as they claim these are covered by councils insurance policies.

We need you assistance in signing this petition to activate council on their inequitable practices and  review the said " Fact Sheet" to  a more contemporary approach to current environments and materials.
