MM FOR DAYTIME
(MICHAEL McLAREN FOR DAYTIME RADIO)

I have sent a letter to the General Manager of 2GB asking for Michael McLaren to be given a spot on "daytime" radio.

One letter is just a voice in the wilderness; but if we get some serious numbers, maybe they will listen. Therefore, I am asking all of you to join me. Will you sign the petition and send it to your friends, please? You can submit any comments to belindas.petition@gmail.com

I am hoping for 100,000 signatures but maybe you can surprise me, who knows? .... The sure thing is: "People Power" is still our best bet.

The reasons for this petition are explained in my letter to 2GB, below:

Dear Sirs,

I am a long-time listener and contributor to 2GB's talk-back programs and a huge fan of your top-rating radio station.

However, I regret to say that lately, I have found that I am switching off at midday.

Believe me, it pains me to confess this as I have nothing personal against the beautiful people who present the show now but perhaps their talents are better suited to other media.

Therefore, I wish to offer the following for your consideration:-

Currently, one of your most brilliant presenters, and a huge 24-carat talent, is hidden away in the midnight to dawn time slot ... I refer to Michael McLaren.

Michael McLaren is not only well educated but also highly insightful & intelligent. His accurate understanding of current affairs, and the issues he chooses, make his show very popular - a fact that has been proven by his consistently good ratings.

Equally, credit must also go to another gem, Dale Sinden, not only a producer extraordinaire but a brilliant, highly intelligent, and beautiful human being, who contributes greatly to the show and is always cheerful, respectful, and helpful to callers. His contribution to the show's success and his talent as a producer cannot be overstated.

These two people are a formidable team and a great asset to any employer.

Michael McLaren has the ability to approach every subject in a very fair and informative manner while remaining respectful at the same time. He is free from self-interest, prejudice, or favouritism and respects other people's right to express their opinion, even though he may not agree with it.

Michael has a very pleasant, "easy to listen to" voice and he is easy to understand. Add to that his sense of humour and he manages to brighten me up every time and keep the show entertaining. He makes listening to the radio so interesting that I cannot bear to touch the dial ... And this is where my problem with this whole thing lies! ... I cannot switch off and I end up listening all night, which means that I fall asleep in the morning and then miss out on Ray Hadley's program.

I usually listen to Ray on the podcast but that means, because it is not live, I cannot send emails or comment on the subjects he discusses and if lots of other people are doing this, is it any wonder that Ray's ratings have fallen?

I hope you will see the importance of giving this matter serious consideration and realize that your top talent should be on daytime shows. Don't you think your loyal daytime listeners deserve as much?
