Justice for Mentally Challenged Victim of Rape

A mentally challenged 23 year-old girl was raped by a supporter of a prominent political party in Sri Lanka. Accompanied by her mother, the girl was returning home by bus after attending a political rally of a presidential candidate in Kegalle on November 7.
No action was initially taken against the accused due to his significant alliance with the political party.
A Sub Inspector and two Police Constable's at Hemmathagama Police have also been interdicted for not conducting a proper investigation into the rape of a mentally challenged girl.
This petition is intended to achieve justice for this innocent girl who has No Voice. As a mother, father, sister, brother we are duty-bound to be the Voice for Justice and to adopt a Zero Tolerance stand to ensure the accused is given the appropriate punishment to discourage future incidents.
