More communication from South Terrace Long Term Care Home
The Issue
On October 22, 2020, Revera South Terrace Long Term Care facility had a staff member at the facility tested positive. Since then there are 68 active cases among staff members. Originally there were 107 residents. There are now 89 residents due to COVID-19 deaths in the home. 72 of those 89 have tested positive and 3 are currently. My grandmother is currently in the home and tested positive earlier this week. South Terrace has not maintained adequate communication and transparency during this time whatsoever.
The home has promised that each resident would get a full body sponge bath once a day as well as a small wash in the evening that would wash the face, hands, and underarms. My grandmother has reported that she has not had one of these sponge baths in weeks. The home also promised that each resident would be promised one on one time with a recreational therapist to provide them with activities. This has not happened. The only interaction my grandmother has had in the past three weeks has been with her nurses and doctors for brief periods of time. The staff and coordinators have not been communicating with families nearly as much as they should be. They have ignored phone calls, emails and messages from concerned families wanting questions answered. In a teleconference hosted by the home, families were only allowed to listen to the coordinators and were not able to ask questions directly.
My family is not the only family concerned about the care that the residents are receiving many others have reported the same issues and are unsatisfied with the communication from South Terrace.
