The QLDC have been needlessly lowering speed limits in wanaka, citing fairly illegitimatesafety factors. The AA has not recommended these changes to happen and has ranked much of wanaka in the lowest 10% of roads that need changed speed limits. 

Examples:

Beacon point road, a wide, open road with houses on either side, all connected by long driveways, previous speed limit - 50, current speed limit - 40, recommended speed limit - 60

Ballantyne road, a dead straight, open road in the industrial estate that contains no houses only shops and gas stations, previous speed limit - 70, current speed limit - 50, recommended speed limit - 70

Aubrey road, a wide open road that had no houses directly connecting to it, QLDC in 2019 illegally placed temporary 50 signs there for longer than their allowed term while performing minimal work, previous speed limit - 70, current speed limit - 50, recommended speed limit - 70/80

I think the QLDC needs to understand that we are not very happy to be tootling around everywhere at wanaka at 40kph for no legitimate reason, get behind this and make changes happen!
