Nik Edser started this petition to Dr Jeanette Young (Chief Health Officer) and

As the current law stands, the Queensland Government has given permission for swingers clubs and adult parties to operate (with some restrictions).

Here is the link to the current -> COVID Safe Industry Plan: Queensland Sex on Premises Venues and Adult Parties

I am not suggesting that these clubs should be shut down, on the contrary I think that they have a place in our community and serve a purpose, but when group sex with strangers is permitted under the Queensland current COVID laws, yet dancing at a private family wedding with our own partners is not really seems like a disconnect.

Put another way, if I was to attend a swingers club or adult party I could engage in sexual intercourse with one or more partners whom I don't know nor live with, yet if I was invited with my wife to a friends wedding and wanted to share a dance with my wife I would be breaking the law as it is deemed high risk.

Currently swingers clubs have the dance floor roped off and closed to dancing due to the risks of spreading COVID-19.  Again, if I was to attend a swingers club and met a woman, I would not be allowed to dance with her due to it being seen as high risk. Yet this very same establishment I could take her to a bedroom and have sex with her and this is not considered illegal.

I can not help but feel that fully clothed dancing at a wedding with members of our own family has to be multitudes less probably of spreading COVID-19 compared with the idea of having sex with potentially multiple partners that are strangers in a club.

I am looking for your support in signing to show your support for lifting the ban on dancing at weddings.

I believe that dancing should be again allowed in Queensland for weddings with restrictions.  Those being -

- Dancing with anyone not living in the same household is to maintain a 1.5m distance.

- The number of guests to be monitored to ensure that the dance floor maintains safe distancing between all.

- The only close dancing permitted is to be between couples living in the same house hold.

- Those drinking are to be seated.  No drinks to be brought to the dance floor.

I look forward to your support in allowing the simple act of dancing at weddings in a time where sex with strangers in clubs is permitted.

Warmly,

Nik Edser
