First and foremost, I would like to link evidence here, some more evidence here, and some final evidence here of what r/TheDeprogram has said. None of these posts have been removed, and they openly glorify crimes against humanity and celebrate people's suicides.

I am personally affected and deeply disturbed by the content shared on the subreddit r/TheDeprogram. As someone who has witnessed the devastating effects of authoritarian communism in regions like the Baltics and Tibet, it is distressing to see such views being propagated openly. This subreddit promotes 'tankie' views, a term used to describe hardline, uncompromising supporters of the far-left ideologies associated with authoritarian regimes. 

The impact of these ideologies is not theoretical or abstract - they have caused real harm to millions of people worldwide. According to a study by R.J Rummel in "Death by Government", over 94 million people died due to communist regimes in the 20th century alone. Several users of r/TheDeprogram have also brigaded other subreddits, such as game communities and alternate history discussions. They have even developed a culture of harassing people until they are blocked.

This petition does not aim at stifling free speech but seeks moderation against content that can potentially cause discomfort or harm others, especially those who have been victims of such oppressive regimes. Reddit as a platform should be safe and comfortable for all users irrespective of their personal history or political beliefs. This would not ban the subreddit but have harm reduction from further radicalizing of uninformed people.

Let us urge Reddit administrators to quarantine r/TheDeprogram until it can ensure that its content does not propagate harmful ideologies or make any user feel uncomfortable or unsafe, as both users and advertisers would reccomend.
