The Issue

Putney Bridge Station: TfL’s Monument to Discrimination

No lift. No step-free access. Just stair after stair after stair.

Disabled? Pushing a pram? Struggling after an injury? TfL’s message is clear: you don’t count.

When it rains, those stairs become a lethal slip ‘n’ slide. Thousands are herded down those stairs especially during the football season hundreds of Fulham fans risk their lives, it like it’s some budget death trap at a dodgy theme park. The difference? You don’t get off alive if you fall wrong.

My mum was forced to stop using this station when she needed a wheelchair. She lost her independence overnight — not because of her disability, but because TfL can’t be bothered to install a box that goes up and down. She passed away without experiencing the wonders of a lift.

This is 2026 We live in a city where you can get a flat white delivered by drone, but if you’re not fully mobile you can’t get onto a train at Putney Bridge. Think about how disgusting that is.

Accessibility is not an “extra feature.” It’s a human right. TfL’s failure is nothing short of discrimination — day in, day out, against thousands of Londoners.

Put the lift in. Stop making excuses. Stop excluding people. Stop gambling with lives. Its not rocket science.

Victorians had no time for disabilities but that was then and this is now!
