In the Philippines, one of the problems that is not given enough attention is the mistreatment of animals— may it be through Unethical Agriculture Acts, Abuse of Domestic Animals, Animals for Entertainment (Zoo, Ocean Parks, etc.) that are not Taken Care of Properly, Animals in Captivity, and Unethical Breeding of Animals. Despite existing laws, enforcement remains weak, and animals continue to suffer in silence. Furthermore, this petition was created to give awareness for people to advocate animal welfare more in politics with the reason being that there are more possibilities and solutions that can be done when you are in politics.

If we allow this issue to continue, the consequences will not only affect animals but also society as a whole. Animal abuse is a sign of our government's lack of empathy and responsibility, which can be seen in multiple aspects of environmental and human rights issues, which can impact other areas of human rights and environmental concerns. Poorly regulated animal industries contribute to public health risks, including the spread of diseases from unethical breeding and unsanitary agricultural practices. Wildlife destruction affects ecosystems, leading to imbalances that can affect food security and biodiversity. If our leaders continue to overlook animal welfare, we risk fostering a culture where cruelty is normalized, and the suffering of innocent beings is ignored.

Now is the time to take a stand. We call on lawmakers, government agencies, and the public to prioritize animal welfare in politics.
