Duty of Care - Drop the Appeal

Duty of Care - Drop the Appeal

The government is failing in its duty of care to keep us safe from impending climate and ecological collapse. Australia is now rated worst in the world for inaction on the climate emergency.
The Federal Court has ordered that Sussan Ley as Minister for the Environment has a duty of care to young people. The Court determined that the potential harm faced in the event of a 3°C rise in global temperatures would be catastrophic, with one million of today’s Australian children expected to suffer at least one heat-stress episode serious enough to require acute care in a hospital, thousands likely to suffer premature death from heat-stress or bushfire smoke and substantial economic loss and property damage will be experienced.
She is appealing this decision. We know that public servants feel just as frustrated as the general public at Sussan's murderously negligent stance.
We know you feel your hands are tied, that you can not show support without risking your job, but now is the time to take risks. You do not want this blood on your hands. You must be brave in this emergency.
The most important thing you can be doing right now is asserting your dissent to this appeal. We are asking you to (1) Sign this petition to show solidarity with each other. (2) Email us at BlowSussansWhistle@protonmail.com to share information and show support. (3) Talk to your union about going on strike until the appeal is dropped.
