The Teaching Council of Ireland adopted new requirements in 2020 that student teachers registering with a language must complete an immersive education experience in the vernacular country. Whilst most ERASMUS programs satisfy this requirement, there is a specific cohort of students that were not provided this opportunity due to covid restrictions, and respectfully accepted this. These students have now been told that if they do not complete an immersive experience prior to completing their educational studies, they will be denied acceptance into the Teaching Council. These students have been provided no guidance or financial support to complete this experience. After paying upwards of €10,000 to complete educational studies, they are being denied entry to the teaching council. Please help us advocate for support provided by the Teaching Council, to aid students that have been affected by this in achieving the Teaching Council requirements.
