We ask the Greater Dandenong Council to support artists in Dandenong.

Council does a great job, and we want to highlight a gap in the community.

Accessible art making spaces.

Did you know there is NO Artist making spaces for residents of Greater Dandenong?

NO subsidised artist making rental programs. ( Update: Connections Art Space is Council supported ) 

NO free access space to create art. ( Update: low cost art classes are available ) 

We all know that creativity and art create wellbeing and innovation in communities.

We ask Greater Dandenong Council invest in the creative community.
( Update: It is investing in a new purpose built gallery ) 

We ask that Dandenong provide subsidised spaces for artists in Dandenong to foster and grow a vibrant multicultural arts industry.

This will support creative business to flourish locally.

We ask Dandenong Council to look towards other well proven artist support programs like those run by Yarra City Council and City of Melbourne. 

We want similar programs to launch in Greater Dandenong.

We want to show our youth that positive pathways of expression and innovation are a valuable career pathway and support new creative business and innovation in the area.

There is a lot of creativity in Dandenong, yet there are no spaces for artists to gather and create. 

Creative minds are more adaptable and tolerant. Creative minds create wellbeing and harmony. Peace and solutions. Embrace difference and unique ways of thinking. 

Let’s build a Culture of creativity.

Dandenong brings a unique voice to the Melbourne Arts Scene.

We want a council community that space to help residence to create  more art.

We want to start the conversation to have space available for local artists  by 2024.

Spaces for practicing artists,

Spaces for emerging artists,

Space's for all ages / non artists,

Spaces for healing arts,

Spaces for art therapy. Thank-you. This petition will be presented to Council and be a catalyst to start a community conversation and give us the opportunity to present these ideas.

Update: This was posted in 2023.

Update 2025. An explosion of art offering happened in 2024 in Noble Park and Dandenong. Council has heard this advocacy and I had the privilege of presenting to the community connections arts group and there is now plans for more artist spaces. Thank-you for your support to achieve this interest.
