Provide Ample Parking for Hospital Staff on Football Game Days

The Issue

Essential healthcare working at the University of Kentucky’s Albert B. Chandler Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky are struggling with the steadily worsening problem of finding places to park on football game days. Transportation services is doing an insufficient job of monitoring who parks in staff parking structures and allowing football game fans to take spots that employees need in order to be able to get to work. Healthcare employees are arriving over an hour early for shifts that already last upwards of 12 hours and still struggle to find parking. Some staff members report walking up to three miles to get to work. This is dangerous for staff members and the patients that depend on them. We request UK Parking and Transportation take this problem seriously and strictly enforce and protect staff parking on football game days.
