The issue

Our Lady’s Primary School in Craigieburn is facing a significant parking and safety issue. The school has extremely limited parking available for parents during drop-off and pick-up times, forcing many families to park on surrounding residential streets or stop in unsafe locations.

While there is parking available on site for school staff and church use, this parking is generally not available to parents. As a result, hundreds of families are left competing for a very limited number of parking spaces in nearby streets each day.

Every morning and afternoon, traffic congestion builds up around the school as parents attempt to safely drop off and collect their children. The lack of suitable parking infrastructure means children are often required to walk between parked and moving vehicles, cross busy roads, and navigate crowded footpaths, creating serious safety concerns.

This is no longer simply an inconvenience for parents. It is a genuine safety issue that affects students, staff, local residents, and the wider community. The current situation places children at unnecessary risk and creates daily stress for families trying to get their children to and from school safely.

We are calling on the local council, school leadership, and relevant authorities to work together to investigate practical solutions, including additional parking facilities, improved traffic management, or a dedicated drop-off and pick-up zone.

Our children deserve a safe and accessible school environment. By supporting this petition, you are helping advocate for a safer future for all families attending Our Lady’s Primary School.
