The Issue

In light of an overwhelming demand from students who have patiently awaited the opportunity to apply for the WTU programme in 2023, It is inequitable for MARA to do sudden modifications in terms of limited universities and courses listed for this year as MARA has not published any news about this sudden change.

Numerous students have dedicated abundant amounts of energy, time, and financial resources to securing conditional or unconditional offers for the best 50 world's top universities as the terms had been featured in the years 2019,2020,2021, and 2022.

Furthermore, certain individuals have undertaken the IELTS examination to meet the requirements that MARA had stated.

The increase in fees for the IELTS examination, soaring from RM 795 to RM 835 this year, has placed an additional burden upon individuals already grappling with financial adversity.

It is disheartening to witness how this substantial amount further compounds the challenges faced by those who are already struggling to make ends meet.

Regrettably, in 2022, MARA failed to disseminate any information regarding the WTU programme, resulting in countless students missing deadlines and patiently endure with another year of anticipation, only to be confronted with an abrupt alteration to the list of universities and courses eligible for the WTU programme.

In light of this disheartening stance, it is only fair and just that we implore MARA to grant us a glimmer of hope by reinstating the previously held list of universities, which had been held dear by a majority of us.

By doing so, MARA would be affording us an invaluable opportunity to pursue our dreams and aspirations, alleviating some of the burdensome barriers we currently face.

MARA must acknowledge the profound consequences suffered by countless students in terms of substantial financial setbacks as their dreams and aspirations were shattered.

It is of utmost significance to recognize that a significant proportion of these individuals hail from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds.

We humbly asked for MARA to open their eyes and bear witness to the resounding voice of this impassioned protest.

We all have hopes and this is not only our hopes, but the desires of parents who have made monumental sacrifices to witness the success of their offspring, regardless of their societal standing, especially those families who are burdened with the relentless trials of financial adversity, but still set high expectations for their children's future, striving to forge a path towards a brighter and more prosperous tomorrow.

We extend our deepest gratitude to MARA and the individuals who are responsible for this issue's kind attention and consideration.
