The issue

The experiences of my own people mirror many of the injustices the Wet’suwet’en face: our whenua was taken from us, forests were decimated, our rivers and waters were polluted, and our people continue to face systemic discrimination. Our culture and language were suppressed, and even today we continue to fight for recognition, justice, and self-determination. Our Government is trying to rewrite history by changing our treaty agreements from 1840.

In the mountainous terrains of northern British Columbia, the Wet'suwet'en nation's ancestral lands are under threat from a sprawling 670 km fossil fuel pipeline. These lands hold significant cultural and spiritual importance for the Wet'suwet'en people.

The United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples,  recognizes the right of indigenous peoples to free, prior, and informed consent over any project affecting their whenua. Yet, this right is being blatantly ignored. This disregard for Indigenous sovereignty and connection to land is a profound violation of human rights

Stand with the Wet’suwet’en to protect their ancestral lands. Sign the petition to urge the government of Canada to halt the construction of the Coastal GasLink pipeline and honor the sovereignty and rights of the Wet'suwet'en people.

Your signature is a powerful voice for environmental justice, indigenous rights, and the sustainable future of our planet. Please sign and share this petition to amplify the call to action.
