Protect TSA Agents from Political Shutdowns

Protect TSA Agents from Political Shutdowns
The Issue
Tens of thousands of Transportation Security Administration (TSA) officers are currently being required to work without pay because of the Department of Homeland Security shutdown.
These men and women show up every day to protect our airports, screen passengers, and keep Americans safe from threats. They stand between chaos and order at nearly 440 airports across the country.
And yet, because of political gridlock in Washington, they are being asked to serve without a paycheck.
In previous shutdowns, TSA officers reported sleeping in their cars, selling plasma, and taking second jobs just to make ends meet. No law enforcement or national security professional should have to choose between protecting their country and paying their bills.
This is not a partisan issue. It is about basic fairness and national security.
If shutdowns drag on, staffing shortages can lead to longer lines, delays, and disruptions for travelers — hurting families and businesses alike.
Congress must stop using frontline security workers as leverage in political disputes.
We call on Congress to immediately pass funding to ensure TSA agents are paid on time and to establish safeguards that prevent essential national security personnel from being forced to work without pay in future shutdowns.
Protect the people who protect us.
Fund DHS. Pay TSA.
