The Issue

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has extended the comment period on draft Northern Spotted Owl Recovery Plan. While the 2010 plan is far better than the Bush administration's 2008 recovery plan, peer reviews reveal shortcomings that need to be addressed if the old growth forest dependent owl is going to have a chance of recovery.
