Protect the kurds and support their independence

The Issue

The Kurdish people, spread across regions of Turkey, Syria, Iran, and Iraq, have long sought safety and self-determination. Unfortunately, they continue to face threats from these surrounding governments, which have historically suppressed and marginalized them. It is time for the international community to recognize the legitimate aspirations of the Kurdish people to have their own nation, Kurdistan, where they can live freely and safely.

Firstly, the geopolitical impact of an independent Kurdistan cannot be understated. Home to approximately 35 million Kurds, this area is rich in natural resources, especially oil, and could become a hub for economic development in the region. By supporting their independence, we can foster peace and stability in a historically volatile area, which will benefit not just the Kurds, but the broader Middle Eastern region and, indeed, the world.

The struggle of the Kurds for autonomy dates back decades, with numerous uprisings and calls for independence. The failure to address Kurdish aspirations has led to prolonged conflicts and humanitarian crises, including the persecution and displacement of Kurdish communities. In Iraq, the Kurdish Regional Government already serves as a model of how Kurdish self-governance can bring stability and prosperity.

We urge the United Nations and world leaders to actively mediate dialogues for peace and facilitate a fair, internationally recognized referendum for the Kurdish people. Moreover, we call on these governing bodies to offer protection and support to the Kurds facing threats from external forces.

The world needs to stand for justice, peace, and the right to self-determination. By signing this petition, you advocate for the safety and freedom of the Kurdish people, expressing solidarity in their call for an independent Kurdistan. Please sign and share this petition to garner international attention and support for this vital cause.
