Thank you Everyone for signing this Petition for Saving The Cot Valley. Protecting it for the future is paramount. More and more developments are taking place, many necessary , for homes for the ever expanding population. 

It is places like the Cot, no matter how small, that will provide Nature in its natural state for people to visit. It will be a green oasis. There may not be the chance for future generations to experience places like this wonderful valley if all is lost to development. This beautiful Bio-Diverse Valley is a perfect example of nature at its best, which has evolved over thousands of years.

The Irish Government is to consider a request  to change the constitution to give Nature protected status with the right to exist and flourish and be restored, regenerated and respected. Perhaps this could be included in future legislation here. 

With the Cavalier attitude taken over the excavation of the pond/lake without the requisite permissions, and the County Council in taking no action at the start of this saga, it was advisable that construction advice was given  at the very outset. As no advice was given , the consequences are , that it led to this Petition being raised in objection.

IT SHOULD NOT BE NECESSARY!

The Government has legislation in place and a Plethora of advice , for both Individuals and Councils alike, to consult before starting any form of development. Guidance for  Councils is clearly set out , with rules and regulations that should be adhered to before any form of construction or development is started
