THE COT VALLEY IS THE JEWEL IN THE CROWN OF WEST PENWITH
The above photo is where the Cot Stream ,after winding through the base of the Valley , finally reaches the sea at its hidden cove.
This Lake is an unnatural change to its Landscape. It is not the place for an Ornamental Lake , complete with a granite jetty and steps. With access gateways with balled finials and fenced with barbed wire. It is NOT a manicured Parkland , but a HABITAT for wild creatures and a myriad of trees and plant life. The Eco-system has evolved over thousands of years and is in danger of being seriously compromised.
Any further development of this lake will cause untold harm, the stream being its main source of water to keep it full.
The Stream is the Life Blood of the Valley, as it meanders through its base and out to sea. Supplying the water needed for the creatures living in its surrounds and plant life. The Fish and other Aquatics will also seriously be affected if there is water depletion , (especially in the Summer months) due to extraction for the Lake, lowering the level of the water so spawning and Eel migration becomes impossible.
This Valley cannot be altered for the benefit of the few, when so much is dependant on the fragile ECO-SYSTEM that the COT STREAM supports.
