Cot Valley  Badgers have thankfully survived the West Penwith Cull, but now face further disturbances , should this development proceed. The Badger Sett within 10 meters of the Pond, has been severely disturbed over the past two years and has  struggled to survive in this area. They are also part of the Exeter University Vaccination Scheme , which is researching into Vaccinations for both Badgers and Cattle.

Badgers are a protected Species and as such should be left alone. We have been monitoring these particular Badgers every day, to ensure their safety and that they are able to continue living in the Sett. Further disturbances such as more mechanical digging will cause more harm and stress. Also noise should the Pond be used for leisure ,such as swimming or boating , as it was in its first year.

It has been stated in the Contamination report of the Landowner that there are no Protected Species or wildlife in the fields adjacent to the Pond. This is untrue. The fields are abundant with creature's,  from the Badgers , Foxes, Rabbits, Deer ( who also rest nearby at night) Stoats and Weasels to name but a few. We have sat of an evening watching the Badgers emerge from their Sett, and seen the Fox playing with her Cubs in the field in the Spring. This is a Habitat that is well established and has evolved over millennia.

The Valley does not need the manmade embellishment of this Pond.

A local dog walker regularly sees these Badgers on his evening Dog Walk and has kindly submitted this photo.
