The proposed 141-dwelling development at 30 Kidd Street threatens the heart and character of Tamborine Mountain. This unique region is renowned for its rural charm, breathtaking landscapes, and close-knit community. However, allowing an over 50’s housing complex of this magnitude will irreversibly alter this treasured locale, burdening its infrastructure and degrading the environment we cherish.

Tamborine Mountain's infrastructure is not equipped to handle such a vast influx of residents. The roads are narrow and already prone to congestion. Higher traffic volumes will lead to increased wear and tear, affecting safety and mobility throughout the area. Local schools, medical facilities, and public services are equally unprepared for the strain this development will impose.

Moreover, the environmental impact cannot be overstated. Tamborine Mountain boasts a fragile ecosystem, home to rare flora and fauna. The construction and subsequent population increase will threaten these ecosystems, reducing biodiversity and accelerating habitat destruction. This is counterintuitive to the region's efforts to preserve its natural beauty and ecological health.

The influx of a large-scale development fundamentally conflicts with the existing character of the community. Surrounded by local businesses, unique artisanal shops, and cultural landmarks, Tamborine Mountain thrives on its identity as a peaceful, natural retreat. Such urban development is better suited to more urbanised locales with the necessary infrastructure already in place.
