After 5 speakers (and a strong written statement from Jeanne Raya read by the clerk) the San Gabriel City Council voted 5-0 to hold the contract to remove green park and trees at Smith Park for another pickleball court. The Council moved this contract to its Aug 15 Council meeting and will hold a public hearing on it!
Now, it's critical for you to speak at the Aug 15 hearing and make your voices heard - neighbors disturbed by pickleball noise, swimmers, families who picnic and play in the park, handball/tennis/basketball players, runners, dog walkers, and visitors who dance, exercise, pray and celebrate at Smith Park. Together we can also preserve this park's Gabrieleno heritage and respect the land.
THANK YOU for caring about this precious place. The council NEEDS to see your faces, and hear from you to protect it. There is a vocal, big pickleball association that will also speak at the hearing. Each and every voice is critical.
