As frequent and proud users of Smith Park we want to preserve its green spaces that are precious and rare parkland with its lawns, trees, and open space in San Gabriel.

We request the San Gabriel City Council to reconsider adding a new pickleball court to this park. We are not in favor of utilizing $150,000 to remove trees, lawn, shrubs and pave over a part of our beautiful, special park.

Please protect the quiet beauty of this park with its open green lawns which is enjoyed for passive recreation. This is a place where one can find sanctuary in our city, in proximity to our historic district. Please keep the open spaces of this park, don't cement over any more areas. Once we lose that green space, it's gone forever.
