On February 1st 2022 we lost my beautiful brother Shane to suicide he had a wonderful girlfriend, 5 beautiful children he adored and loved all the world. Unfortunately Shane had been failed by the system even though we had contacted the crisis team on numerous occasions they never helped Shane,Shane even contact them himself when he was having a mental health episode but by the time they had eventually turned up Shane’s episode was over so they didn’t do nothing to help him there are many time me and family members have rang them they never come out. So 2 years prior to Shane committing suicide he actually attempted to commit suicide by jumping of a bridge in houghton le spring which caused him to break his legs he told Sunderland royal hospital that he didn’t get the outcome he wanted guess what they did? They discharged Shane from hospital with a variety off different medications which Shane then overdosed himself on. We tried on many occasions to get Shane sectioned because Shane said no they wouldn’t do nothing to help him how can they let somebody with mental health decide whether they want to be help they aren’t in the right frame off mind. Also on a day to day basis Shane would assault him self cause harm in his body very serious harm as-well which he would hide from everybody which is unfair the life Shane lived and not one person tried to help him we as a family have had to suffer watching my brother go through this knowing there is nothing we can or could’ve done to help him he was failed!! We are wanting this petition so that if you have a family member who has mental health you can get them sectioned we need to stand up and fight for mental health #protectpeoplewhocantprotectthemselves!
