PROTECT OUR PARK! Stop AT&T cell phone tower in Gershwin Park

The Issue

Stop the AT&T Tower in our beloved Gershwin Park, — Protect Our Health, Property Values and keep the park quiet and safe

We strongly oppose the proposed AT&T cell tower in our beloved neighborhood park where children play all day long.

This is not just about the ugly aesthetics of a super tall cell phone tower with a 250 square foot structure at the top, — it is about property values, serious health concerns, and increased risk of fire - particularly with the canyon located just behind the park.

For most families, their home is their largest investment. Multiple real estate studies and appraiser reports have shown that homes located near visible cell towers can experience reduced buyer demand, longer time on market, and measurable declines in resale value — particularly when towers are placed in residential neighborhoods or community green spaces.

*Visual blight
*Industrialization of residential areas
*Serious Health Concerns
*Noise and maintenance activity

Gershwin Park was intended as a community amenity — not a revenue-generating industrial site. There are appropriate alternatives in commercial and industrial zones that would not put homeowners’ equity or their health at risk.

We call on city officials to:

Reject the AT&T tower at Gershwin Park
Prioritize residential property protection over corporate convenience
Our homes and our health are not collateral damage for corporate infrastructure expansion.  It is extra infuriating that the government hasn't fixed the bridge on the playground for 3 years and now THIS!

IT’S IMPERATIVE YOUR VOICE IS HEARD, WE MUST TAKE ACTION QUICKLY!

3) SHOW UP - Attend the Clairemont Planning Group subcommittee meeting on 4/8 where AT&T will present and our voices can be heard as well as the Clairemont Planning Committee where they will vote on 4/21, both meetings @ 6:00pm at the Cathy Hopper Clairemont Friendship Center, 4425 Bannock Ave. San Diego 92117.  High community involvement and attendance at meetings caused AT&T to back down from similar proposed cell phone tower projects in our area this past year!

Thank you for your support!

Hello all, Each of you have indicated an interest in PRJ 133870 Gerswhin Park Communication Tower ("Project"). I apologize for the delay, but we had to resolve a few issues with the applicant, namely when they were ready to move forward with their requests from the Project Review Subcommittee ("PRS") and the Clairemont Community Planning Group ("CCPG"). I have just received word from the applicant that it has requested to present at the April 8, 2026 meeting of the Project Review Subcommittee and at the April 21, 2026 meeting of the Clairemont Community Planning Group. As you may already know, these are open to the public, and we anticipate that members of the community will want to offer public comment. I appreciate your patience as we secured meeting space large enough to accommodate. Further details will be finalized as the PRS and CCPG post their respective April agendas. However, until further notice, both meetings will be held at the Cathy Hopper Friendship Center and should start at 6 p.m. Please let me know if you have any questions, Matthew Wang Chair, Clairemont Community Planning Group clairemontplanninggroup@gmail.com
